INSTALLATION

Everything you need to know about installation!

Daily care and maintenance

At Kirkland's Flooring, we highly recommend that you establish a protective care and maintenance routine for your new hardwood floors. Invest in entry mats and doormats and remove all outdoor shoes before walking across your hardwood flooring. To protect your hardwood floors from dents or indentations heavy furniture can leave over time, buy floor protectors to place on the legs or base.

Frequently trim your pet’s nails to prevent scratching. Remove your high heels and heavy boots before walking across the floor. Finally, keep in mind that hardwood floors are sensitive to the indoor climate of your home, so you should use a humidifier during the dry heating season and run a dehumidifier during inclement weather.

Everyday care and maintenance should include sweeping, vacuuming, and dry mopping your hardwood flooring. If your flooring needs more than just a dry surface clean, use a manufacturer-approved cleaning solution and follow its instructions. If you need a periodic deep clean, hire a local professional. For recommendations, speak with any of our flooring experts!

Dealing with spills

Life happens on our hardwood flooring, and the occasional spills and stains are just inevitable. Educating yourself on how to remove common household stains without damaging your flooring is important. Most common spills like liquids or pet accidents will wipe away clean, especially on hardwood floors with stain- and scuff-resistant technology built into the hardwood finish. Tend to liquid spills immediately, as hardwood flooring is not water-resistant. For other common stains like wax residue or nail polish, consult with our common stain removal guide.
