If you can't remove your old vinyl floors due to asbestos or other problems, consider laying a new tile right on top. If the vinyl is in good shape, with no missing or loose tiles, there is no need to remove it. Just make sure that it’s smooth and gap free. If there are gaps you might have to do some floor prep.

Additionally, OSB and particle-type boards may have a coating which is not compatible with flooring adhesives (including self-stick adhesives) and will prevent a proper bond.
Acclimation allows the solid vinyl flooring to become equal to the installed environment. This will better allow the flooring to become more stable during normal temperature fluctuations. With floating installations, acclimation allows the product to properly relax and the joints to be properly engaged.
